Switching to Calorie Counting

I have followed SW for the last 5 years and had great successes with it. Group meetings were an important factor in my success, it was that feeling of standing on someone else's scales each week that did it for me, I always wanted to see a loss and it spurred me on.

With meetings closed and zoom meetings being the norm I have lost my focus and have decided until groups return I am going to try something else. Running a food diary business I have noticed a big swing towards calorie counting over the last few months, so now its my turn to take a step into the unknown and learn calories instead of syns.

I'm not a natural writer and so this blog will not be a master piece of creative writing, I just want to record my progress in a simple way and share any tips along the way. I haven't decided on a weigh day or whether I will just weigh monthly or not at all, all I know is I am going to give it my best shot.

As with SW I spent half an hour yesterday planning my food for the week and calculating my calories. I have to admit it did take much longer than normal as I needed to check everything as I went and calculate how many calories I had remaining.

I started using MyFitnessPal but I didn't find this particularly user friendly, so stumbled across Nutracheck. Its a monthly subscription and i'm currently using the 7 day free trial but what an app!! I love the fact it has pictures so hunting for your food is so much easier and adding your serving size is straight forward and quick. I am definitely going to sign up for this, i'm old school and love pen and paper but even I might be tempted to have a go at logging all my food electronically to see how I get on.

So that's me planned and ready to go. So far so good!!
